Nicaragua Tours & Trips

Join us in exploring the beautiful country of Nicaragua

... and its revolutionary history, as we try to understand the roots of present day conflicts between land reform and industrial agriculture.

Our excursions show the contrast between agro-industrial practices that contribute to poverty and disease, and sustainable agriculture systems that promote healthy community development.

Our Goals

Workers, producers and consumers creating an equitable agricultural system

La Isla Foundation is dedicated to fighting an epidemic of kidney disease in Chichigalpa, Nicaragua.

We work with health officials and researchers to provide better medical treatment for the sick and to study the causes of the epidemic.

We support and organize workers and their families through education programs, health initiatives, and economic development projects.  And we are committed to breaking the silence that shrouds this epidemic.

We want to expose the industrial agricultural system that has helped to create this crisis.

We want the world to know what is happening to the people of Chichigalpa.

30 August 2010 - La Isla Foundation Achieves Strategic Plan Goals

Jason Glaser, President, La Isla Foundation

We’re happy to announce that we have recently completed Phase 1 of our strategic plan.  The focus of this phase was to produce studies that would provide a set of data from which we can formulate an effective strategy that addresses this evolving public health and humanitarian crisis. During this time we also implemented infrastructural, educational and sanitation programs in order to both serve and engage the community.  This process of empowerment is key, as our goal at La Isla Foundation USA is to eventually put the local operations of the Foundation  into the hands of the community.  READ MORE
