La Isla Foundation is dedicated to fighting an epidemic of kidney disease in Chichigalpa, Nicaragua.
We work with health officials and researchers to provide better medical treatment for the sick and to study the causes of the epidemic.
We support and organize workers and their families through education programs, health initiatives, and economic development projects. And we are committed to breaking the silence that shrouds this epidemic.
We expose the industrial agricultural system that has helped to create this crisis.
We want the world to know what is happening to the people of Chichigalpa.
LA ISLA BLOG
The primary mission of La Isla Foundation in Nicaragua is to coordinate the resources of local institutions, including Autonomous National University of Nicaragua-León (UNAN-León), hospitals, government ministries, and community leaders to determine the cause of the CRI epidemic in western Nicaragua. Our goals are to identify the causes of CRI, facilitate treatment, educate workers, and support impacted families.
